End of Campaign

My mom always told us to count our blessings. This past week I have been counting and my total today is nearly 700, the number of individuals, groups, corporations and foundations that made HAVEN’s vision a reality.

These dedicated donors understood what we were trying to do, create a new home for our services and programs. They had the faith and trust in our ability to do just that. But not only did they have faith in our building project, they demonstrated their belief in our future through their financial contributions, both small and large.

Today I am pleased to report the news that we have met our capital campaign goal of $5 million! In fact, having raised $5,277,032 we exceed it by 5.5 percent. The generosity of those nearly 700 donors combined with an additional gift from the Detroit Lions Courage House Board of Directors, which put us over the edge, made all the difference!

Seven weeks after having moved, our programs have settled in and the feedback from survivors who participate in our programming has been so encouraging. The building design achieved our goal of creating space that is safe, warm, empowering, and welcoming. I am thrilled to report that in just seven weeks, we have already begun to see an increase in survivors reaching out for support and help.

We still have many items on our wish list such as expanding our playground area and building a donation drop off center so many opportunities exist for you to join us. Perhaps you would like your name added to our community support wall? If you would like to learn more about how a gift, of any size, will make a difference please let me know, I’d love to add you to my continually growing list of blessings.
